I have never been a writer, let alone one of poetry. However, as soon as I woke up this morning these words just immediately started flowing through my brain. I got up and found the closest notebook and pen I could find. It is equally strange being this coherent immediately in the morning. One of my recent favorite catchphrases is "I wash my stimulants down with stimulants." This entire piece came out pre-stimulants!

"Critically Imperiled"
A Poem About Hyperscale Development in Virginia

What are they going to do when the water runs dry?

The eagles will no longer be flying in the sky.
All the fish are gone and people are wondering why.
And now all we can do is sit around here and cry.

They'll ask me "Hey! why didn't you rally and try?"
But when I did people were thinking "Who the hell is this guy?"
They ignored me and let all of the native plants die.
All just to get a bigger piece of the economic pie.

Wetlands credits aren't going to do a single damn thing.
It's legal corruption to let them do anything they want.
They aren't impacted; the kids will feel all of the sting.
It's not "mitigation" at all; its just a ridiculous front!

What happened to accountability for the things we do?
Why is it so hard to push all of the right things through?
I don't know how these developers and lawyers sleep at night.
But us people and residents will NEVER give up the fight!
